I was recently commissioned to help with the shop fittings for a new hairdressing salon in the Stroud Five valleys Shopping Centre. Medulla Hairdressing is a organic hair salon and so the brief was to use reclaimed wood and build furniture and fittings in an industrial but rustic style. I was tasked with building a reception desk, sink unit, kitchen storage, coffee bar, room divider and product display shelving.  The whole project was a delight to work on as this is my signature style and I love to work with reclaimed wood.  I used a lot of pallet wood to clad the coffee bar and reception desk and I used reclaimed scaffold boards for the shelving and wall divider.  Each station had a custom made shelf made from gravel boards and the foot rests were made using scaffold tubes and fittings.  All counter tops, shelves and drawers in the furniture were made using either 12mm or 18mm reclaimed shuttering plywood.
